What Next for cPanel Users?

Popular Web Hosting company Siteground have just announced they will be rolling out their new site tools for web site owners and developers in the next couple of months.

So what do they intend to do and how will it perform? Well, for anyone that has used cPanel there are a plethora of options available to us and which allow so much control which we are used to with any kind of web hosting we have used, until now.

Siteground is removing the cPanel interface and replacing it with what they believe to be a better option, a complete custom interface built in-house for what they say is a much more user-friendly way of doing things, also allowing for better collaboration for group projects.   This is just what they’re saying though.

There’s a reason cPanel has been around for such a long time and why nearly all web hosting companies use it. Taking this away will change how people would have to design and setup everything they do to create an online presence.

We can’t see a good reason why this has been done and will surely drive current customers away and put off new customers from joining as well, or at least not staying when they realize they don’t have access to their favorite interface!

To us, cPanel was created with the developer in mind to allow us to do what we want and have complete control over it, just how we want it. With Sitegrounds new pending update, it seems they want to have total control over what you can and cannot do with your hosting.

For instance, their new way of doing things will encourage you to purchase everything you want, direct from them instead of cPanel which allows for total control in setting up outside services to connect and work with your hosting provider.

From a business perspective we can see why they are doing it, it’s something that sets them apart from the competition and for some will seem like a great prospect to simplify things, you know for the corner coffee shop who just want an easy setup process to get their website up and running and that’s that.

We can’t see it working for the majority of website creators though.   Don’t just take our word for it though, check out their announcement here https://www.siteground.com/blog/new-client-area-and-site-tools/ and you can see for yourself how many of their current users are infuriated by the change which is coming and they don’t get a choice in the matter.

For us, it’s a no go and Siteground is no longer the web hosting company it used to be. We highly recommend for someone on the fence about the new interface who may not be too tech-savvy, to not worry about if cPanel would be confusing, once you get to grips with it, you won’t want to restrict yourself with a custom interface that won’t allow all the features you may otherwise have access to.

All is not lost though, there are many web hosts out there which are ready to take you and on the back of this, have announced their intention to not move away from cPanel.

So, Who Are The web hosting companies who have signalled their intention of sticking with cPanel into the future.

The best web hosting company overall right now (in our expert opinion) is without a doubt GreenGeeks.com They offer amazingly fast page load speeds and some of the most competitive pricing you will find, and they recently announced their plans to keep offering their clients access to cPanel on all of their web hosting plans.
